PROGRAM FEES:

When you enroll in the Impaired Driver Program (IDP), you must pay the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) a non-refundable processing fee of $75.  After enrollment at the DMV office, you will be given a registration form to complete and return to the Driver Safety Institute with a money order for the $233 tuition fee, payable to Driver Safety Institute.  The $233 money order is due 2 business days prior to the start date of your first class meeting.

If there is not sufficient time to mail payment, please bring it to the first class.

PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTED.  There will be additional fees if you transfer to another IDP or apply to re-enter a program you have been dropped from.

CLASS SCHEDULE:

The IDP classes are held on seven consecutive Saturday mornings or week night evenings (inclement weather conditions may require additional weeks to complete the program) for up to 2½ hours each. The DMV clerk will inform you of the currently available classes. If you can only attend Saturday classes, make sure you let the clerk know. You have the right to select which classes are most convenient for you to attend.

The date and time your class is to begin will be noted on the bottom of the MV2020 form that the clerk will give you. If you were issued a conditional license you must also have the MV2020 form with you when you drive, and you must present both to a police officer upon request to see your driver's license.

ATTENDANCE:

You MUST attend all seven of the class meetings you are scheduled for and MUST be on time for each class. Failure to do so may result in being dropped from the program and losing your conditional license. In the event of inclement weather, classes may be cancelled and rescheduled. Information on cancellation will be available by calling (845) 313-7220 at least one hour prior to the start of the class.

COURTESY AND RESPECT:

You will be treated with courtesy and respect, and it is expected that you will treat our staff and DMV clerks in the same manner. Offensive and abusive behavior, of any type, will not be tolerated and will result in being dropped from the IDP and the loss of driving privileges.

OTHER DMV REQUIREMENTS:
Some IDP participants may be required by DMV to be referred for formal evaluation and to attend  any resulting treatment. In such instances, the participants IDP involvement will end when all requirements are met. Failure to meet all requirements will result in being dropped from the IDP and the loss of driving privileges.
